Dr. Christopher Kerr, chief medical officer and CEO of Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo, will present “Validating End of Life Experiences” from noon-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 13, p.m. on Zoom, as a part of the ongoing Soul Care Speaker Series sponsored by Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC).

Kerr’s lecture will focus on published research that describes and validates patients’ dreams and visions at end of life and how these near-universal experiences often provide comfort and meaning as well as insight into the life led by the patient.

The talk is free, but registration is required. To register or for more information, call the VHOCC offices at 360-452-1511 or email to office@vhocc.org.

According to Kerr, experiences at the end of life testify to humans’ greatest needs: to love and be loved, to be nurtured and feel connected, to be remembered and to be forgiven. He has tended to thousands of patients who, while facing death, speak of love, meaning and grace, event organizers say.

Kerr and the research team at Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo have published several studies and documented more than 1,500 end-of-life events, published in a 2020 book, “Death Is But a Dream.” His work has been the subject of a TEDx talk as well as part of two documentaries, “Surviving Death” on Netflix and “Death Is But a Dream” on PBS.

VHOCC’s Speaker Series and other Soul Care programs are supported by the Albert and Helen Mangan Fund.
