Milestone: Koenig Subaru backs OPHS’s ‘Share the Love’ effort

The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society (OPHS) recently received a $6,857 donation from Koenig Subaru.

Each year, from just before Thanksgiving to the beginning of the New Year, Koenig Subaru donates $250 per vehicle sold to local charities. OPHS is one of the lucky recipients.

Since the beginning of the annual “Share the Love” event, in 2008, Koenig Subaru has provided OPHS with an estimated $150,000, the company said — enough to provide 398,000 meals for companion animals in need.

OPHS recently added Kitty City, a second campus exclusively for cats and smaller animals, and the awarded funds are utilized at both the Bark House location for dogs, and the Kitty City location.

“We are so grateful to Koenig Subaru for supporting OPHS and the thousands of animals in need of food and shelter over the years, OPHS executive director Luanne Hinkle said.

“At this particular time, our shelter is full. During the month of October, Koenig Subaru will donate $100 for every animal adopted. There has never been a better time to adopt an animal, or if that is not feasible, to foster one or more adorable companions.”

OPHS’s mission is “to provide the highest level of compassion for the animals entrusted in our care; to measurably reduce companion animals’ overpopulation and to take a leadership role in promoting humane values and education for the benefit of animals.”
