Wind Rose hosts cheese party

Wind Rose Cellars, 155 W. Cedar St., Sequim, hosts a cheese party from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10. Award-winning wines will be paired with Mt. Townsend Creamery products. The cheese tasting is complimentary.

Christmas Lane Fair held Saturday

Crafts and food are the main features of the Christmas Lane Fair from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 Blake Ave., Sequim.

More than 30 local crafters will offer their creations. The Holly Daze Cafe will serve chili, soup and pie, and there will be a baked-goods table.

Alder Wood hosts water seminar

The Alder Wood Bistro offers a water seminar from 10-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the restaurant,139 W. Alder St., Sequim. Rose Marschall, micro-hydration specialist, presents a hands-on workshop on new technology from Japan. Owner Jessica Schuenemann shares her experience using the technology at the Alder Wood Bistro. Nash’s Farm Store holds holiday open house

Nash’s Farm Store, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way, holds a holiday open house from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15. Refreshments include sweets from the Garden Bistro and Bakery and mulled cider made from Nash’s own apples.

Music will be provided by Patty McManus-Huber on the keyboard and Santa Claus will make a special appearance from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Reed and Wasnock join HairMasters

Red Rooster offers reward cards

The Red Rooster Grocery, 134½ W. Washington St.,

Sequim, offers prepaid gift/reward cards. Each card is credited with an extra 10 percent of its amount.  Customers also may build rewards with a 5-percent bonus on all purchases of more than $20. Rooster Reward cards have no expiration date and may be used for any item in the store.

Wine sales benefit OPHS

In an effort to raise awareness and funds for the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society, Harbinger Winery & Brew House has produced a red merlot wine called “Menagerie.” All of the profits generated benefit the OPHS. This special bottling is only available at the winery through the end of the year. Signed posters of the label also are available at the winery for $5 each, with all profits benefiting the OPHS.

Items collected for animals

Carlsborg Chiropractic and Massage, across from the Carlsborg Post Office on Carlsborg Road, is collecting items for the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society through December.

Needs include dry dog food, non-clumping cat litter, dry cat food, paper towels, large garbage bags, disposable gloves, Dawn detergent, and energy-saving laundry detergent.

Used or new toys for dogs, cats and rodents, and new or used cat beds also are needed.

Coupon book offered for nonprofits

Taco Time NW is accepting orders until Feb. 28, 2012, for its coupon book fundraising program. The coupon books are free for local registered nonprofit organizations, including athletic teams, youth groups and schools, and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Books contain $5 worth of savings at Taco Time NW restaurants and are sold for $1, with all proceeds going directly to the nonprofit organization.

Alder Wood Bistro closed in January

The Alder Wood Bistro, 139 W. Alder St., Sequim, will be closed for the month of January again this year for an annual vacation and cleaning. The bistro will re-open Wednesday, Feb. 1, for its regular hours: lunch from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and dinner from 5-9 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday; closed Sunday-Monday. Call 683-4321.
