Wineries tour this weekend

Sip, savor and enjoy the stunning colors of fall during the Olympic Peninsula Wineries’ Harvest Wine Tour from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 8-9.

Eight artisan wineries in Chimacum, Port Townsend, Sequim, Port Angeles and on Marrowstone Island will pair new and current wine releases with locally grown and prepared cuisine that celebrates the season.

Visitors may take part in the “Scarecrow Photo Competition,” sample upcoming wines straight from the barrel and enjoy an evening of jazz music.

 

Smith joins studio

Fit4Life Studio, 1245 W. Washington St., Sequim, has added a new instructor. Dance instructor Lorna Kay Smith is trained in the classics – ballet, jazz and tap.

She expanded her repertoire to include flamenco, modern, belly dancing and hip-hop.

She also is a certified instructor of HOT Hula Fitness and HOT Fusion. Smith will be teaching Dance Party on Thursdays at 5:45 p.m.

She also is available to teach private and small group dance lessons.

McFall earns certification

The Gellor Insurance agency congratulates Michelle McFall for attaining the designation of CIC-Certified Insurance Counselor.

By earning and maintaining the CIC designation, she has demonstrated professional competence through a series of rigorous written examinations focusing on all major fields of insurance, agency operations and insurance management.

Art of The Pie at Nash’s

Back by popular demand, Kate McDermott of The Art of The Pie will present a pie-making demonstration at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Nash’s Farm Store, 4681 Sequim-Dungeness Way in Dungeness.

McDermott will focus on gluten-free pie crusts and will feature a pear/apple/walnut pie filling.

The presentation is free and open to the public. The Farm Store also will be sampling gluten-free grocery products from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.


Skin rejuvenation workshop

Put on your best face for the holidays. Renowned skin therapist Ingrid Perle will analyze your skin type, answer your questions and teach you how to improve and rejuvenate your complexion with simple, easy-to-do steps from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Shipley Center, 921 E. Hammond St., Sequim.

Fee $7, seniors $5, payable to the Shipley Center.

 

Thompson joins   Tack in clinic

Dr. Crystal Tack, director of the Sequim Clinic for Acupuncture and Naturopathic Medicine, announces Dr. Jeff Thompson, DC, is joining the clinic.

Thompson has 24 years of chiropractic experience and utilizes low force techniques with highly successful outcomes.

Sign up for peninsula tourism meeting

The Washington Tourism Alliance is hosting its Olympic Peninsula Regional meeting with informative discussion regarding the WTA 2015 legislative objectives, including the details of the industry-funded, assessment model and governing principles for a future statewide tourism marketing program.

Whitten elected VP

Olympic Medical Center Auxiliary president Bill Whitten recently was elected vice president of the Washington State Association of Hospital Auxiliaries.

The OMC Auxiliary is one of 35 hospital auxiliaries belonging to WSAHA which is under Washington State Hospital Association.

As vice president, Whitten, is responsible for planning the 2015 WSAHA state conference to be held in Leavenworth from Sept. 13-15.

OMCF hires events coordinator

Jeremy Gilchrist, a Western Washington University graduate, has been named as event coordinator for the Olympic Medical Center Foundation.

A Port Angeles High School graduate, Gilchrist graduated from Western in June with a degree in business administration in marketing and finance.
