Alder Wood Bistro reopens in February

Owners Gabriel and Jessica Schuenemann announce the reopening of Alder Wood Bistro, 139 W. Alder St., Sequim, on Thursday, Feb. 4. The bistro closes every January for equipment maintenance, deep cleaning and vacation.

The business hours will be the same as last year upon opening with lunch from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and dinner from 4:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. In the summer, they plan on being open Wednesdays as well. Call 683-4321.

Football fever

Dockside Grill at John Wayne Marina will be closed on Sunday, Feb. 7, for the Super Bowl.

Free water check

The Home Depot, 1145 W. Washington St., Sequim, will host a free water clinic from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9. Bring in your water sample in a clean jar to have checked. Call 582-1620 for more information.

Knit for special athletes

A Dropped Stitch yarn shop, 136 S. Second Ave., Sequim, is spearheading the peninsula’s Special Olympics Scarf Project Washington, according to owner Nora Polizzi. Knitters and crocheters are making scarves, hats, headbands and ear warmers to be presented to Special Olympics athletes at the 2016 winter games. Bring finished items to the shop by Feb. 20. WeDo Fudge now open

After a January hiatus, the drive-through at WeDo Fudge, 11 Valley Center Place, will be open from 10 a.m.-

4 p.m. Feb. 3-12 just in time for Valentine’s Day. It will close again until the start of its season on April 5. Until then, its fudge is available at Karol’s Accessories, The Good Book, Sofie’s Florist or Agnew Grocery and Feed.

Fitness studio raises funds

Fit4Life Studio held a Meditation fundraiser during January for the Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County and raised $500.

Exercise program for Parkinson’s patients set

Kevin Pedrey, owner of Sequim Gym, announces that Sequim Gym is preparing to launch a 12-week exercise program specifically designed for those with Parkinson’s disease. The program is “Get Fit and Give PD a Hit.” This one-hour program will include elements designed to improve mobility, balance and strength. The program will be led by qualified fitness trainers from the Sequim Gym who have a wide variety of experience from boxing, group fitness training and many other fitness modalities.

The Sequim Gym will be holding an introduction class, free to the public, that will discuss the scope and activities of this exercise program and the goals they wish to accomplish with this community program. Fees apply for the entire course.

Local insurance agent honored

Steven Stratton, CIC, of Port Angeles-based insurance agency, Wenner-Davis & Associates, recently was recognized for professional leadership and advanced knowledge by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, a leading national insurance professional organization.

Stratton was awarded a certificate marking more than 15 years of participation as a designated CIC, which requires annual completion of advanced education and training.

The annual Red Wine & Chocolate Tour will be from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 13-15 and Feb. 20-21. The following wineries will participate: Wind Rose Cellars, Olympic Cellars, Camaraderie Cellars, Harbinger Winery, Lullaby Winery, FairWinds Winery, Alpenfire Cider, Eaglemount Wine & Cider, Finnriver Farm & Cidery and Marrowstone Vineyards.
