Diabetes, hearing discussed

Olympic Hearing Center, 528 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim, sponsors a seminar from 2-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., on diabetes and hearing health.

Audiologist Curt Miller is the presenter of this free program.


Hughes joins Sequim salon

Erika Hughes has joined the team at Glamorous Salon, 375 W. Bell St. in Sequim. She received her esthetic training at the Gary Manuel Aveda Institute.

The services she will provide include facials, waxing, eyelash extensions, lash and brow tinting, microderm abrasion, makeup artistry, sugar hair removal and threading. The salon also has added Control Corrective Skincare products.

Air service postponed

SeaPort Airlines of Portland, Ore., notified Port of Port Angeles staff on Jan. 19 that it is postponing scheduled air service from Port Angeles to SeaTac indefinitely due to a pilot shortage. Regularly scheduled air service from William R. Fairchild Airport to SeaTac International Airport was set to begin on March 1.

The port will be working with Rep. Derek Kilmer’s office to determine if and how they can help address the pilot shortage in order to re-establish commercial air service to Port Angeles.


Osborn earns CAPs certification

Boni Osborn, of by Design Group Inc, is now one of the select group of professionals nationwide to earn the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation, with the skills and knowledge necessary to remodel or modify a home to meet the unique needs of homeowners or their visitors who may be physically challenged. Graduates are required to maintain their designation by attending continuing education programs as well as participating in community service projects.

Olympic Veterinary Clinic opens new facility

After a major renovation, Olympic Veterinary Clinic celebrates the completion of its new, larger location at 1331 E. Front St. in Port Angeles.

Personal protection classes start

Fit4Life Studio, 1245 W. Washington St., welcomes Ken Pannell who will be teaching Empowerment & Awareness: Concepts of Personal Protection classes starting at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 1. Pannell will present an entertaining and fun course on self-protection emphasizing empowerment and awareness. Classes will consist of various awareness drills and exercises, physical training and lectures.

Fit4Life Studio also welcomes Kristin LaMoure who will teach a Zumba class on Wednesdays starting in February at 4:30 p.m.
