Open house set at the Lodge; Center plans open house; DIY at the Depot; Sequim inventors awarded patents

Open house set at the Lodge

The Lodge and Cottages at Sherwood Village, 660 Evergreen Farm Way, Sequim, will have an open house from 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, July 13. Musical performers are the Sweet Adelines Chorus at 2 p.m. and Al Harris at 3 p.m.

There will be tours, desserts, giveaways and a grand prize drawing. For more information, call 681-3100.


Center plans open house

The Fifth Avenue, 500 W. Hendrickson Road, Sequim, invites the public to its 30th anniversary and grand reopening from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 23. There will be tours, live music, hors d’oeuvres and beverages.


DIY at the Depot

The Home Depot in Sequim hosts several free upcoming workshops in July, including “(Make a) Dog Feeder,” 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, July 21; and “Learn to Install Tile Flooring,” 10-11:30 a.m., Saturday, July 23.

Sequim inventors awarded patents

Sequim inventor Donald Rapelje was awarded U.S. Patent 9,345,237 on May 24 for his invention of a soft bait fishing lure. The patented Rapelje lure mimics the lifelike swimming action of living bait fish. Rapelje has been working on securing patent protection for his unique design for over 10 years, and is now seeking partners for commercialization.

Sequim inventor Roger Maes, of aMAESing Tools, was awarded U.S. Patent 9,358,679 on June 7 for his innovative Mobile Work Station. The patented Maes MWS includes a lockable box on wheels that can be leveled in the field to form a work platform.
