Sequim Farmers Market on the move in 2017

What’s New at the Market is our location change!

For the 2017 season and for the foreseeable future we will reside once again on Cedar Street, but a little different than before.

When the Sequim Civic Center was being planned, they invited me to come on several occasions to share what the market’s needs were with the architects so that they could accommodate them on the new plaza. I was honored to attend those meetings and greatly appreciated the inclusion in the discussion.

During the construction of the Civic Center, the market vacated Cedar Street. Now that the plaza is complete, we are going to try it on.We hope that the smooth surface will be easier to traverse for those with assisted mobility.

We also look forward to the market being united rather than being broken into two groupings.

A big thank you to Bill Littlejohn for allowing the use of the lot on Washington Street during our transition. As you can see now, there is a community group that has formed to transform that vacant lot into a park, they have named it “Whimsy Park.” They received paint donated by Roddha Paint and with the help of the Sequim High School AP Art class and art teacher Jake Reichner a mural is well underway.

A big shout out to all of our proud sponsors of the 2016 Season! At our highest sponsor level we would like to thank: 1st Security Bank, First Federal Bank, BrokersGroup Real Estate, Sequim Lavender Growers Association, Bell and Davis Law, Mountain Propane, Wilder Auto, The UPS Store and Turies Treasures.

It was an incredible year and many other businesses also came forward as sponsors. With that support we are able to develop and maintain a high quality market for farmers, food purveyors and artisans, support local music and hire high school students.

This final Saturday of the 2016 Market season, we will be hosting a fundraiser for WAG — Welfare for Animals Guild. They will have a photo booth set up at the market and a wide selection of Halloween costumes for your dog to wear.

They will also have Christmas attire for the dogs.

So come with your dog and your camera for a donation-only event at the market this Saturday, Oct. 29th from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. You get to dress up your dog and you get to take the photos, or volunteers will be there to help you if you want to accompany your pet in the photo.

You will have to wait until 2017 to attend our Holiday Show as the Guy Cole Center was unavailable due to renovations and we could not find a location that fit our calendar and preferences; sorry, no Farmers Market Holiday Show this year.

Many of our vendors will be attending other holiday shows in the area. You can always contact me at 582-6218 or manager@sequimmarket.com if you are looking for a particular vendor.

Finally, we are always looking for new farmers, food vendors and high quality artisans to join our market. Use the contact info above to learn more. Our new location at the Sequim Civic Center plaza promises to bring a new wave of prosperity to the market this coming season.

See you at the Market!
