Shop ‘takes the cake’ again

KING-5 TV's “Evening Magazine’s” 23rd annual Best of Western Washington results have been announced and two Sequim businesses have placed first in their categories.

KING-5 TV’s “Evening Magazine’s” 23rd annual Best of Western Washington results have been announced and two Sequim businesses have placed first in their categories: The Cedars at Dungeness took first place out of 56 for golf courses; and for the third year in a row, That Takes the Cake, 171 W. Washington St., Sequim, was voted first place for Best Wedding Cake out of 83 nominees.

In addition, That Takes the Cake also was voted fourth place out of 87 nominees in Best Desserts and sixth place out of 60 in Best Cupcakes.

Paul and Sue Boucher, owners, hosted an open house Dec. 5 as a thank you to the voters and community supporters.

Other Sequim businesses placing include:

• Dungeness Kids Co., ninth out of 64, Best Children’s Gifts

• Purple Haze Lavender, seventh out of 168, Best Gift Shop

• 7 Cedars Casino, fourth out of 26, Best Casino.
