What’s Happening at the Farmers Market: A last look before the 2023 season closes

As we approach the final Market Saturday for the 2023 season on October 28, running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at (Sequim Farmers & Artisans Market/ SFAM), we enter a period of gratitude and reflection. This season has truly been remarkable, brimming with bountiful produce, a variety of artisanal treasures, and long-lasting memories.

There’s a common misconception that farmers’ markets simply happen. In reality, it takes a substantial amount of time, energy, and dedication to ensure the quality and seamless operation of each Saturday. So before we bid farewell to this season, we would like to take a moment to express our appreciation to everyone who has made the 2023 season possible.

To our vendors – We extend our deepest gratitude for the time, talent, and unwavering dedication you pour into your craftsmanship and expertise. Moreover, your commitment to fostering a sense of community among our guests, staff, and fellow vendors is a truly heartwarming sight each week.

To our program partners – We want to offer our heartfelt thanks for your contributions in making each market day memorable and full of opportunities. Your support allows us to expand our services and impact within Sequim.

This year’s Reusable Bag Program, sponsored by BrokersGroup Real Estate, has not only saved over 500 single-use bags but also provided over $2,000 for market guests to spend locally.

Our collaboration with Nutritious Movement for Kids Day and Senior Appreciation Day has allowed patrons of all ages to contribute to the local economy and enjoy meaningful experiences with locally grown produce.

The Grow Your Market Match Program with Sound Community Bank ensures additional support for low-income shoppers and helps maintain essential food access programs now and in years to come.

The Market Arts initiative with Maplewood Learning Enrichment Program has brought added vibrancy to the market with fun and educational activities for families.

Through our initiative with support of Rainshadow Cafe, seasonal artwork by David Owen Hastings was commissioned in support of local artistry and creativity.

Olympic Disposal plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and sanitized market space.

We also extend our gratitude to the Sequim Gazette, KSQM 91.5 FM, and In Graphic Detail for their generous support in spreading the word about the market.

To all these wonderful community organizations, a resounding thank you for your invaluable contributions!

To our sponsors and donors – This year, we have been fortunate to receive generous support from 7 Cedars Hotel & Casino, Castell Insurance, AirFlo, Renewal by Andersen, Olympic Onion, Alderwood Bistros, SeaGreen Plumbing, and Tedesco’s. We are deeply appreciative of your support!

To our dedicated staff and board – Your continual efforts behind the scenes are instrumental. Thank you for your commitment in creating a positive and safe experience at the market each week.

Last but certainly not least, to our guests – We extend a heartfelt thank you to you for your time and support. Whether you spent your time visiting vendors, chatting at the information booth, enjoying a meal at the picnic tables, or savoring the music, your presence is greatly valued. Thank you for choosing to spend your Saturdays with us.

We hope we’ll see you again in the many more Saturdays to come. Stay tuned and we’ll see you soon!
