Woodturners to meet

The Strait Turners Woodturning club meets at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at the Gardiner Community Center, 980 Old Gardiner Road.

This month’s presentation is “Beginner’s Stations,” where our members will present different aspects of wood turning with equipment to further beginner’s education in the art of wood turning.

Fiddlers set jam session

The Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association meet for a jam session from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 Fifth Ave.

The group plays “Old Time” music — a genre of North American folk music played on acoustic instruments, generally centering on a combination of fiddle and plucked string instruments including the guitar, banjo, mandolin, dobros, dulcimers, autoharps and ukuleles.

Community members are invited to come to play or just to listen and learn about this traditional style of music.

There is no charge to attend; however, donations in support of the club’s youth scholarship program are welcome. Snacks to share are also appreciated.

Yarn circle sessions set at Sequim Library

Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., hosts a new Yarn Circle from 9-10:30 a.m. on Saturdays in January.

People ages 15 and older are invited to drop in with their knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross-stitch or similar project. Basic finger knitting supplies will be available for those who want to start something new. All experience levels are welcome. An assortment of hot beverages will be provided.

OrcaStraitors to play Sequim Elks Lodge

The OrcaStraitors Musicians’ Guild hits the stage from 6-8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road.

Cost is $10 for Elks members, $12 for guests.
