Events
• The Juan de Fuca Foundation and Ballet Workshop Productions, both of Port Angeles, present a twist on “The Nutcracker,” which in this production, is set in the Great Depression of Clallam County in 1895 with Tchaikovsky’s traditional “Nutcracker” score. Shows are at 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center, 304. E. Park Ave. Tickets are $15-$35 for adults and $10 for youths 14 and under. Ticket outlets are at jffa.org, Port Book and News in Port Angeles and Joyful Noise Music in Sequim.
• The Port Townsend Community Orchestra presents a holiday concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Chimacum High School Auditorium, 91 West Valley Road, Chimacum. The concert is free but donations are welcome. This concert is titled “A Swan Lake Christmas” and Peter Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake Suite” forms the core of the program. Orchestra members Kristin Smith (violin), Diane Vaux (cello) and harpist Janeen Kelm perform as soloists in this piece. A pre-concert talk will be presented at 6:45 p.m. by Holly Kaufman, PTCO conductor and artistic director.
• Sequim High School’s senior class play will be “A Holiday Spectacular,” a variety of musical numbers, dances and comedy. Performances are at 7 p.m. Dec. 9-10 and Dec. 16-17 in the Sequim High School Performing Arts Center. • Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave., welcomes back on First Friday the clarinet quartet Toot Sweet who will perform from 6-7 p.m. Dec. 2. The group will be decked out in Victorian attire and will pay tribute to the holidays with seasonal and Christmas music. OTA will open its doors at 5 p.m. with beverage and snack bar available.
