Harbor Art Gallery is featuring charcoal artist Lance Snider for the months of March and April.

Snider will be at the gallery to greet visitors Thursday, March 11, and Thursday, April 8, at the gallery, at 114 N. Laurel St., Port Angeles.

The gallery is open 11 a.m.- 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday; social distancing and masks are required.

Snider said he has been obsessed with art for as long as he can remember. A Bellingham native, he split 15 years between Northern California and Utah, and was “thrilled” to move back to the Pacific Northwest with his wife a year ago.

As a youth his art was heavily influenced by the “Where’s Waldo” and “Incredible Cross Sections” books, and he’d often create giant scenes full of tiny characters. Though his reading tastes have matured a little, Snider said he’s still making art filled with little people who have taken on “a vaguely creepy/mysterious vibe.”

Snider’s art often includes his favorite animals, particularly pachyderms and cephalopods. He’s also very drawn to people, and “the stories behind their eyes.” Though he dabbles in various medium, charcoal is his favorite, with pen and watercolor a close second.
