Clallam County 4-H youths win awards, scholarships

In November, Clallam County 4-H members and their families and friends came together to celebrate the annual Achievement Afternoon held at the Home Arts Building at the Clallam County Fairgrounds in Port Angeles.

During the celebration, 4-H clubs shared videos of their past year, youth members earned their year pins, many awards were given to exceptional 4-Hers and 4-H adult volunteer leaders were recognized for their years of service. The coronation of the 2016 Clallam County Fair Junior Royalty court also was held.

The 2016 Scholarship recipients were David Bennett (Forks), Ciara Gentry (Port Angeles) Cassidy Hodgin (Port Angeles) Natalie Napiontek (Port Angeles), Austin Wagner (Sequim) and Kelly Anders (Sequim). The program would like to thank all the community businesses who supported this fundraiser including F-5 Slaughter, Sunrise Meats, Pen Print and Ellenbaas Feed.

WSU Extension’s 4-H Youth Development program serves Clallam County youth through volunteer-led community clubs and healthy living programs. Many clubs still are accepting new members for the 2016-2017 year.
