Folksinger Dennis Blair returns to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church’s Music Live with Lunch series this week.

Blair plays hits from the 1950s and 1960s at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 21, in the church, 525 N. Fifth Ave.

The half-hour performance is followed by a hot lunch in the parish hall on the third Tuesday of each month through May.

Some of Blair’s setlist includes songs like “Raindrops Keep Falling,” “Yesterday,” “Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” “That’s Amore,” “Michael Row the Boat Ashore,” and more.

Blair got his musical start at the prompting of his mom to take piano lessons. However he preferred sounding like The Beatles and abandoned piano for guitar at age 12.

Since junior high he’s performed solo and with several bands and has entertained in many venues.

After retiring in 2011 from the U.S. Army as a substance abuse treatment counselor in Fort Riley, Kan., he’s seen his musical life come full circle.

His mother used to drive him and his brother, a drummer, to nursing homes in Erie, Pa., to play for nursing homes, which he does in the Sequim area. Blair hopes he sounds a little bit better than he did years ago.

Tickets are $10 and can be bought in advance or at the door. The church office is open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Thursday and can be reached at 683-4862.

Next month’s event features Hawaiian music and violinist Kate Powers in April with May to be announced.
