Port Angeles Light Opera Association celebrates its 31st production with the Tony Award-winning “Guys and Dolls,” playing weekends, July 12-14 and 18-20 at the Port Angeles High School auditorium, 304 E. Park Ave.

Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, the oddball romantic comedy introduces a cast of vivid characters — prim mission-worker Sarah Brown, played by Carissa Bowlby, slick high-roller Sky Masterson (Dalton Williamson), crap game entrepreneur Nathan Detroit (Danny Willis) and his always sniffling love, Adelaide (Alaynna Little).

Based on Abe Burrows and Jo Swerling’s fast-paced story and Frank Loesser’s score, “Guys and Dolls” is considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy.

The PALOA production is produced by Bob Lumens, directed by Richard Stevens, with vocal coaching by Stephanie Clark, musical direction from James Ray, and choreography by Ana Unger.

A family night performance is at 7:30 Friday, July 12, with discounted tickets ($13). Evening performances are at 7:30 July 13, and 18-19, with matinees July 14 and 20 at 2 p.m.
