Toddler and preschoolers get ready to dance!  

Jim Gill, the nationally renowned children’s musician, author and performer, is scheduled to visit the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.

The program is free and open to the public.

Gill’s six award-winning CDs of music play for young children are favorites in family rooms, classrooms and playrooms. He also is the author of two children’s books. His latest, “A Soup Opera,” is a sing-along opera inspired by concerts Gill performs with symphony orchestras.

A child development specialist, Gill’s music is designed to create playful interactions between a child and a caring adult.

"Jim Gill is one of our favorite musicians," said youth services librarian Jennifer Knight.

While in Port Angeles, Gill also will teach a workshop — “Songs to Read, Books to Sing” — for librarians and child care providers from 2-5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16. Youth Services librarians and child care providers will learn new ideas to enhance story times and children’s programming as Gill shares music and play that can be utilized in story times for preschoolers as well as with infants, toddlers and parents.
