Sequim museum gets $5K state grant

Sequim Museum & Arts recently received a $5,000 grant through Humanities Washington, the nonprofit state affiliate for the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The grants, called Sustaining the Humanities through the American Rescue Plan (SHARP) grants, support Washington State nonprofit cultural organizations that provide humanities programming and that are facing financial hardship because of COVID.

A total of 122 organizations were awarded more than $1 million by Humanities Washington, with grants ranging from $2,500 to $15,000.

“Our need for funds to restart the Museum after and during the pandemic is great right now,” Sequim Museum & Arts executive director Judith Reandeau Stipe said.

“We are grateful for the support we have received thus far, but repair on the Dungeness Schoolhouse and Sequim Museum’s cultural programs need to be resumed as soon as possible.”
