Judge S. Brooke Taylor ordered a bench warrant for a 25-year-old man charged with possession of heroin who failed to appear for a hearing March 21.

Sequim police arrested Jeffrey James Shamp, of Port Angeles, in the Walmart parking lot on a local warrant March 17, according to a certification for probable cause.

When Shamp was booked into the Clallam County jail, corrections officers found two baggies of heroin, a glass smoking device and other drug paraphernalia on his person, police said.

Prosecutors charged Shamp with possession of a controlled substance, heroin.
