GREYWOLF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Got Math? Night: Greywolf Elementary is offering an open invitation to all staff, students, administrators, board members and the community for an evening of math games and an ice cream social gala event. Be sure to mark your calendar for 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4. The doors will be opened at Greywolf’s gym welcoming all to attend. _ The “I Love to Read” reading contest runs from Feb. 1-19. The Clallam County Literacy Council is sponsoring a reading contest for Helen Haller students. Every time students read a book, they can enter the contest by submitting their name and the name of the book on a 3- by 5-inch piece of paper. These entry forms will be turned into the library for a drawing on Friday, Feb. 19. Nonreaders may have books read to them. Twenty-five students will receive a new book. The grand prize winner will receive a Walmart gift card.

SEQUIM MIDDLE SCHOOL

_ The Sequim Middle School ASB just held January spirit day and Fashion Disaster was the theme. Throughout the halls, one could see swarms of mixed checks, plaids, stripes and polka dots. There also were many colors: neons, darks, light and bright colors all mixed together to form truly a fashion disaster. Students were encouraged to mix and match different colors and types of shoes and socks. You also could spot many funky layers of clothes. Disaster hairstyles were a plus. Some hairstyles looked like this: a high ponytail and a low ponytail, or purple and green hair (temporary of course). There also was a lot of mixing of styles like a mini skirt with a long-sleeved shirt. All around, this spirit day was a mess of a fashion disaster success.

_ The science department of Sequim Middle School would like to showcase the following students as “catalysts” for second quarter. These are students who consistently display an exceptional level of participation in their science class.

_ We are planning a fundraising event to benefit the First Teacher program from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St. Appetizers, a dessert bar, silent auction, music and a speaker are on the agenda. A planning meeting is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the First Teacher classroom in Room 4W at Sequim Community School, 220 W. Alder St. Add your ideas and take part. Children are welcome.

Our Bookworm Reading Contest is going on so as you read with your children, fill out a slip of paper with your name and phone number to be dropped into the Reading Contest box in the First Teacher room. The contest concludes with a drawing for books and prizes on Monday, Feb. 8. The contest is sponsored by the Clallam County Literacy Council.

SEQUIM HIGH SCHOOL
_ More than 120 Sequim High agriculture and FFA students are participating in end-of-semester workdays. Students are repairing hot-wire fencing at the FFA farm, are mixing concrete for gate posts, emptying water troughs for cleaning, weeding the pasture around the poultry unit barn and moving panels to create a new pasture area. In future months, they will market their hogs for the Clallam County Fair and participate in a broiler feed trial. In late summer, they will participate in a swine feed trial and their free-range turkey flock will arrive for the holiday market.
