City resumes roadwork on Seventh Avenue

The City of Sequim resumed its roadwork rehabilitation of portions of North Seventh Avenue this week.
The work — scheduled to run 7 a.m.-6p.m., Monday through Friday — is expected to be completed by mid-June, depending on weather.
Roadwork is being completed at:
• North Seventh Avenue, from West Spruce Street to West Fir Street
• North Spalder Loop
• South Spalder Loop
Residents can expect delays, localized closures and detours during work hours, city officials said. Resident access will be provided, though they are encouraged to heed flaggers, cones and construction signage, and “to be cognizant of large construction equipment and trucks and their backup alarms,” city representatives said.
This project includes the installation of a new 8-inch diameter water main, valves, hydrants, 4-inch and 3-inch diameter water supply piping, concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, HMA (hot mix asphalt) pavement, pavement markings and other associated work.
Funded by water restricted funds, the project is being completed by crews from Jamestown Excavating, Lakeside Industries, Smugglers Cove Flagging and Northwest Traffic.
The City of Sequim began the water main replacement project on Seventh Avenue in October 2022, but the paving portion of the project was delayed due to weather.
The asphalt plant usually closes between December and March because weather conditions do not allow paving during that time, city officials said.
