Community connects through homeless event

The third annual Project Homeless Connect brought 351 people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless together with needed services on March 30 at the Vern Burton Community Center in Port Angeles.

Cindy Burdine, service provider chairman, said 50 services were offered, including chiropractic care, free I.D. and driver’s licenses, and health screenings.

More than 100 volunteers ran the event, and the food crew served more than 400 meals.

Next year’s event is tentatively scheduled for March.
