Country store Saturday
The Sequim Prairie Garden Club Country Store will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Pioneer Memorial Park clubhouse, 387 E. Pulmonary support group

Mammography van visits
Women over 40 who are due for their annual mammogram, have a primary care physician and are not pregnant or symptomatic can make appointments for the screening in a Mobile Mammography Van operated by Seattle Cancer Care Alliance at Sequim Safeway, 680 W. Mushroom class
Magdalena Bassett teaches "Hunting for Chanterelle Mushrooms" from 1:30-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road, Sequim.
Bassett is a lifelong mushroom hunter, cook and pastry baker and the author of two cookbooks, "Young Man’s Cook Book" and "Cooking & Baking with Lavender."

Senate funds vets’
housing in Forks
Funding for a new transitional housing facility for homeless veterans included in a Senate appropriations bill has passed the full Senate.
Sarge’s Place Veterans Housing Project will receive $500,000 to buy and remodel an existing two-story apartment building in Forks and convert it into housing for homeless veterans and their families.
