Dates, times change for library’s Pacific Science Center shows

The North Olympic Library System announces a couple of scheduling changes for the Space Odyssey show, to be presented by the Pacific Science Center.

The program will be presented at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 23 at the Clallam Bay Library and at three times on Tuesday, July 24 — at 10:30 a.m. at Sequim Middle School (301 W. Hendrickson Road), 1 p.m. at the Port Angeles Library at 1 p.m., and 6 p.m. at the Forks Library.

This fun and educational show takes off with a mind-blowing demonstration about balloons in the vacuum of space. Contemplate the real size of the moon, investigate astronomy tools like spectroscopes and telescopes, and then cheer for your team in a race between a child and a flashlight, demonstrating the concept of a light year by comparing it to a "kid year."

The Pacific Science Center’s appearances are presented in conjunction with "Dream Big, Read!", the North Olympic Library System’s annual Summer Reading program for young people of all ages that runs through Saturday, Aug. 4 at all four system libraries.

Besides enjoying books and reading, participants are eligible for prizes, including a grand prize of a Nook Touch.

Performances are made possible with support from the Friends of the Library.
