Olympic B’nai Shalom celebrates high holy days

Congregation Olympic B’nai Shalom will observe Yom Kippur with Rabbi Stand Yedwab. The schedule is as follows:

• Friday, Oct. 7: Erev Yom Kippur at Unitarian Universalist Hall, 73 Howe Road, Sequim; set up, 6:30 p.m.; Kol Nidre Service, 7 p.m.

• Saturday, Oct. 8: Yom Kippur at Unitarian Universalist Hall; morning service,10 a.m., led by Rabbi Stan Yedwab; Torah Study, 2 p.m., led by Sandy Goldstien; afternoon service, 3:30 p.m., led by Rabbi Stan Yedwab; Yizkor, Neilah and Havdalah to follow; Break the Fast Dairy Potluck; Clean up — all volunteers welcome.

Non COBS members are requested to pay a fee of $25 single/$40 family, which covers all services and lunch on Rosh Hashanah. Send a check in advance to 73 Bridge Lane Port Angeles, WA 98362, or bring to services.

Women’s Bible study starts at First Baptist

First Baptist Church, 1323 Sequim-Dungeness Way, begins a study, “Life Lessons from Women in the Bible,” covering the lives of 30 women in the Bible, from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 18-Nov. 22. Small group time includes fellowship, discussion and prayer. Meetings run concurrently with the junior and high school youth group. No child care available. Prayer breakfast scheduled

The 2011 Clallam Leadership Prayer Breakfast is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, at the Sequim Community Church, 950 N. Fifth Ave.

Ed Tandy McGlasson, former NFL lineman and popular conference presenter, will be this year’s featured speaker.

Good News® Club begins in October

Child Evangelism Fellowship® begins a weekly Good News Club® for children 5-12 from 1:40-3 p.m. Tuesdays starting Oct. 25, in the Reading Room at Jefferson Elementary School, 218 E. 12th St., Port Angeles. All children who attend must have a signed parent/guardian permission form, available from the school office or at www.cefop.us.

 

Hebrew offered for beginners

An ongoing weekly Hebrew class from 6:30-8 p.m. begins Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Four Seasons Ranch, east of Port Angeles, with a Sequim carpool available. Participants learn Hebrew along with insights into the Jewish mind-set and culture. People of all faiths are welcome. Classes are free except for workbooks available to purchase. Christian women’s luncheon planned

Port Angeles Christian Women’s Connection hosts a luncheon from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Crab House, 221 N. Lincoln St., Port Angeles. There will be a fashion show, music by Amanda Bacon and a presentation by Gloria Edgecomb. For reservations, call 452-4343 or 457-8261.
