Four-day ‘Fundamentals of Buddhism’ class starts Aug. 19

Joanne Kumekawa (Padma Yong Chedtso) returns to Sequim to teach a four-day course on the Fundamentals of Buddhism from 10 a.m.-noon on Aug. 19, 21, 26 and 28 at the Sequim Library.

Kumekawa will also introduce a short meditation practice to students.

The classes include the life of Buddha Shakyamuni, present moment thinking, Time, Karma, and other basic Buddhist views.

A suggested donation of $60 is requested to cover travel, materials and time. No one turned away for financial reasons.

Kumekawa spent about 25 years at the Federal Reserve, FCC, the Department of Commerce and the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, DC as well as at the United Nations in Geneva Switzerland before becoming a student of H.H Khenpo Choga Rinpoche in 2007. She now devotes her life to Dharma practice and teaching.

She is authorized to teach by the International Dzogchen Shri Singha Foundation.
