A Port Angeles woman who threatened Walmart shoppers with a handgun in July was convicted Thursday, Dec. 10, of multiple counts of assault with a firearm.

Teresa Nadine Dumdie, 37, was shopping for ammunition at the Port Angeles Walmart when she became enraged at a clerk and was escorted from the store by security.

In the parking lot, Dumdie pointed a handgun at a shopper and her 4-year-old grandson, stating she would "kill the little bastard." Then she drove around aiming her handgun at Walmart security staff and sending customers running for cover.

She was found guilty of four counts of second-degree assault and one count of

second-degree assault of a child with sentence-enhancing findings of use of a firearm.

Sentencing is set for Jan. 31, 2010. Dumdie faces up to 10 years in prison with an additional 15 years because of the firearm.

No early release is possible on firearm enhancements, so Dumdie could spend more than 21 years in prison.

Prosecutor Deb Kelly credited the successful prosecution to the efforts of deputy prosecutor John Troberg, formerly the chief criminal prosecutor in Stevens County, who recently was hired.
