There is no cover charge, but a $5 contribution is appreciated, event organizers say.

Rice is well-known to area jazz fans. He plays many gigs in the Seattle area with different groups and is a “go-to” trombonist here on the peninsula.

He has toured with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and played with combos and big bands throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Rice is joined on Friday by two other well-known area musicians: Mick Nicholson, himself a longtime member of the Navy Band, on bass, and Trevor Hanson on 7-string guitar.
