Clallam County Fire District 3 crews responded to a vehicle that drove off the bluff on the morning of Saturday, June 28, at the intersection of Cays Road and Marine Drive.

Around 6 a.m., Harley Robert Sutton, 30, was arrested after Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies found him driving under the influence of alcohol, with a suspended license and a failure-to-appear for a warrant.

Assistant Chief Ben Andrews said they received a 9-1-1 after residents found the Dodge Dakota down the 40 foot bluff, which also damaged a staircase on the way down.

Fire crews used a rope system to transport Sutton from the scene who was found walking around when fire crews arrived but reported neck pain and was taken to Olympic Medical Center and released the same day, Andrews said.

The tide was out at the time of the incident, and the truck was lifted by two two trucks, Andrews said.

As of Tuesday, July 1, Sutton remains in Clallam County Jail with $2,500 bail set.
