Sequim High School students Mesa Maddux and James Reis join SHS band director Vern Fosket, center, as they take a break from performing outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia in early July. Maddux and Reis performed with Washington’s All State Marching Band in Washington, D.C., at Philadelphia’s Fourth of July Celebration parade and on “Good Morning America.”

In all, 150 students from 53 schools in Washington participated. Maddux will be a junior and Reis a senior next fall at Sequim High School.
