Russ and Janet Holt celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends on Aug. 9 at the Art and Janeen Kelm residence in Sequim. Their sons and families hosted the event.

Russell William Holt married Janet Baldock at All Saints Episcopal Church in Portland, Ore., on Sept. 19, 1964. The couple resided in Corvallis, Ore., and attended Oregon State University where Russ graduated with a forestry degree.

They moved to Forks in July 1965 where Russ started his career preparing timber sales and cruising timber for the Department of Natural Resources.

In 1972 they relocated to Sequim where he continued his forestry career as the Sequim local manager. Later on he gave forestry advice to private landowners and co-hosted workshops with the WSU Extension Service. He retired after 39 years.

Janet stayed home and raised their two sons and then worked in the libraries of the Sequim School District elementary and middle schools for 25 years.

The Holts have two sons and three grandchildren: Scott, his wife, Kim, Emilee and Ben reside in Caldwell, Idaho; and Mark, his wife, Staci, and Hailey, live in Emmett, Idaho.

After retiring, they continue to live in Sequim and enjoy traveling throughout the Northwest and to other areas with a trip to Hawaii every so often.
