Motorcyclist airlifted to Harborview after wreck in Blyn

One man was hospitalized after losing control of his motorcycle in Blyn on Monday afternoon. Steve Vogel, fire chief for Clallam County Fire District 3, said the motorcyclist lost control of his motorcycle near Blyn Crossing on U.S. Highway 101 at 4:05 p.m. Monday, July 21.

Steve Vogel, fire chief for Clallam County Fire District 3, said the motorcyclist, Davey Sanders Jr., 43, of Port Angeles, lost control of his motorcycle near Blyn Crossing on U.S. Highway 101 at 4:06 p.m. Monday, July 21.

Washington State Patrol reports Sanders was traveling east on U.S. Highway 101 on his 1995 Honda VF750 motorcycle and didn’t notice a truck that was slowing to turn in the left turn lane.

Sanders hit his brakes to go left around the truck laid down the motorcycle and slid across the westbound lane.

Vogel said the motorcycle traveled another 100 feet and Sanders was unconscious when paramedics arrived but he started to wake up before he was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.

Alcohol and drugs were not involved in the incident and Sanders was wearing a helmet, Washington State Patrol reports.

Traffic went to one lane for about an hour before the scene was cleared.A Harborview Medical Center official reported Tuesday, July 22, that Sanders was in satisfactory condition.
