The New Dungeness Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution has formed in Sequim and the chapter’s name has been approved by the National Society DAR (NSDAR).

The group held its first official organizing meeting last Saturday and officers were sworn in. They included Organizing Regent Anita Reynolds, Vice Regent Mona Kinder, Treasurer Darlene Cook, Registrar Carol Medlicott, Recording Secretary Monica Reynolds, Chaplain Judy Nordstrom, and Historian Marianne Burton. Thirteen additional organizing members were sworn in as well.

Reynolds, a member of the Sequim pioneer Rhodefer family, has worked with Washington State Society DAR officials for several months to organize the chapter. WSSDAR officials State Regent Jacqueline Riddell and Organizing Secretary Melinda Anderson attended the meeting.

“We have an enthusiastic group in the new chapter,” Reynolds said in a press release, “and we are eager to establish service projects for the Sequim area that support DAR’s three pillars of historic preservation, education, and patriotism.”
