Janice Vee Williams

December 31, 1932 – August 10, 2019

On August 10, 2019 Jan Williams’ curiosity as to what happens next was satisfied when she joined her husband and parents in heaven. Janice Vee Williams, the only child of Victor A. and Joy Koto Engleson, was born in Springfield, Minnesota, on December 31, 1932 (She quite often said that it was notable that the world either celebrated or over did it because she was born.)

All her life Jan planned to be, like her parents, a teacher. She loved to read and to learn, and had the grades to prove it. She graduated as a member of the Honor Society from Austin, Minnesota High School; the Deans “Silver A” from Austin Community College; and Bachelor of Science with high distinction from the University of Minnesota.

After being a librarian and English teacher in several Minnesota schools, Jan chose to teach in the Department of Defense schools. Assigned to Japan, she enjoyed teaching at different DoD schools on the northern island of Hokkaido and at Washington Heights in Tokyo.

While there, this “damn Yankee” met A.B. “Bo” Williams, a Texan Air Force officer with the Office of Special Investigations (O.S.I). They were married, in 1959, in Austin, Minnesota. From there, Bo’s assignments took them to New Mexico; Thai Language school in the Washington D. C. area; Thailand at the beginning of the Vietnam war; Washington D.C. and Colorado.

Together they raised two children, Gary and Kärin, who gave Bo and Jan four grandchildren. They were also proud of Wesley, Bo’s son from a former marriage and the four grandchildren from his marriage. The grandchildren have in turn given Bo and Jan 10 great grandchildren, all of whom survive.

Jan, Gary and Kärin were able to travel with Bo to the various assignments. Jan taught in the International school in Bangkok and the DoD. schools in Japan as well as schools in Minnesota, New Mexico and Colorado.

A stroke, in December 2015, put Jan in an assisted living facility, and the family thanks the Sinclair Place staff for their loving care. Preceded in death by her husband (December 2006) and her parents, Jan looked forward to a reunion with them.

Final services to remember Jan’s life and contributions will be held at 2 PM, on Friday August 30th, at Faith Lutheran Church Sequim. (382 W. Cedar Street, Sequim, WA 98382)

If you are so inclined, memorials may be made to the Lorraine Baldwin fund of Chapter EP, PEO; Faith Lutheran Church, in Sequim; the Sequim Library; or The Voluntary Hospice of Clallam County.
