The Clallam County Historical Society is participating in Mr. Carnegie’s Grand Tour of Washington this summer.

"The Carnegie building that houses our museum is an absolute treasure," said Kathy Monds, executive director of the Clallam County Historical Society.

Andrew Carnegie was a businessman and philanthropist who gave grants to build 1,689 U.S. libraries, mostly in small towns, between 1883-1929.

To participate in Mr. Carnegie’s Grand Tour of Washington, the only thing needed is a "passport," which is free and available at the Museum at the Carnegie, 207 S. Lincoln St., Port Angeles, as well as at other participating Carnegie locations.

After having the passport stamped at three different Carnegie locations, Grand Tour participants can submit a completed page to be entered in a drawing for an assortment of Washington-made products and services.

Besides the Museum at the Carnegie in Port Angeles, Port Townsend’s Public Library is in a Carnegie building that will be part of the Grand Tour.

The Museum at the Carnegie is open from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday.
