Olympic Cellars lauded for corporate philanthropy

The Puget Sound Business Journal named Olympic Cellars to its 2009 list of top corporate philanthropists.

The Puget Sound Business Journal named Olympic Cellars to its 2009 list of top corporate philanthropists.

The journal’s expanded Corporate Citizenship Program recognizes companies of all sizes for their support of philanthropic causes and organizations. Companies were placed in size categories based on total revenue and then ranked according to total giving in the state.

Olympic Cellars is ranked No. 20 out of 25 businesses on the small companies list, with $6,613 cash and $4,990 in-kind donated in 2008.

"It’s an honor to be recognized for our philanthropic efforts," said Kathy Charlton, co-owner of Olympic Cellars.

"Giving back is ingrained in our overall business philosophy, and we look forward to continuing our support for women and families in the future."

"I am also very impressed with another aspect of the Business Journal’s expanded Corporate Citizenship program," Charlton said.

"The new Healthy Communities Corporate Champion Awards program identifies several components of a healthy community – arts and culture, basic needs, economic vitality, education, environment, health and wellness, and neighborhoods and communities – and honors companies that champion the various components.

"It’s my hope that Port Angeles will one day honor local businesses in the same way for their contributions to a healthy, revitalized community."
