OMP’s walk-in clinic returns to five-day-a-week service

The Olympic Medical Physicians (OMP)walk-in clinic will resume five-days-a-week service — 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday — in the Medical Services Building at 840 N. Fifth Ave.

The expansion of hours from three days a week to five is thanks to successful recruitment of providers to the clinic, OMP representatives said. OMP hired two additional full-time walk-in clinics providers that allow for the expansion of service days, they said.

The clinic offers same-day primary care access, with availability to treat a variety of non-emergent and non-urgent medical conditions, including minor cuts and wounds, sprains, respiratory infections, asthma symptoms, urinary symptoms, temporary refills (except opioids and benzodiazepines), skin rashes and school-related physicals.

While wait times can vary, patients are seen in the order of arrival, OMP representatives said. Patients who may be pulled into clinic based on the nature of their visit needing an assessment, allowing staff to determine if they are in the right place for treatment or whether imaging needs to be obtained in advance.

Individuals concerned about a potential medical emergency should seek care at the nearest emergency room or dial 9-1-1, OMP representatives note. This includes patients with complex chronic conditions or symptoms, and even more so for elderly individuals.
