Port Townsend gas station robbed; police seek suspect

At 9:20 p.m. on Oct. 31, the Port Townsend Police were dispatched to a report of a robbery that happened at the Sea Breeze Grocery Store/Gas Station, 1408 Sims Way.

The Port Townsend police gave the following account: Witnesses at the location described the suspect as a tall, slim male in a Halloween costume and head dress similar to that worn by an Arabian sheik. He entered the store just before 9:20 p.m. The suspect walked to the rear of the store and then returned to the front counter area where he told the cashier that he had a gun, showed her the gun and demanded all of the money in the cash register.

The clerk complied with the suspect’s demands; after he took the money he left running from the location east bound on Hendricks Street towards Seventh Street.

The interior and exterior of the store are equipped with video cameras. Video shows the male at 6 feet tall or taller, with a slim build. The outfit is tan in color and the headdress is white. The suspect’s face is completely concealed.

While inside the store the suspect adjusted his headdress exposing the skin on his right hand that appears to be white.

The suspect also appears to be wearing a dark colored shirt and pants.

Police advise persons to not approach the suspect. He is to be considered armed and dangerous.
