An avid reader, Zoe Olson Taft says she has nearly 250 books in her room.

The Sequim Sunrise Rotary Club honored the eighth-grade student at Sequim Middle School for her studies with the November Student of the Month award for November.

Born in Portland, Ore., and raised in Sequim, Taft says her favorite classes are yearbook and art. She likes basketball but loves soccer. She plans on playing soccer through high school and hopes to be good enough to get a scholarship to play soccer in college.

Taft also enjoys snowboarding.

The middle-schooler says her goal is to improve her math skills and to enroll in Runnin3g Start when she’s in high school to get her Associate of Arts degree. Then she plans on attending the University of Washington

for bachelor’s and master’s

degrees, with a career in photography, film directing or working with animals or children. Taft is the daughter of Ambur Taft and Jason Olson. She has a younger sister named Alexi.
