Pizza, pop, power tools

Peninsula College hosts “Pizza, Pop and Power Tools,” an event for seventh- and eighth-grade girls who are interested in learning about careers in construction, from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Friday, June 24.

Continuing education scholarships available

Soroptimist International of Sequim is accepting applications for three continuing education scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each. Applicants must be female graduates of Sequim High School or have a legal address within the Sequim School District. They also need to have completed one year of post-secondary education and be continuing their education in the fall of 2011.

The application is available online at www.sisequim.org/education.htm. Completed applications must be postmarked by July 15.

Library hosts henna presentation

At 1 p.m. Thursday, June 30, young adults in grades 7-12 are invited to learn

about the history and traditional uses of henna and to create temporary body art at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

Mehndi Madness Inc. hosts the event. The products used are nontoxic and safe for any age.

This event is part of “You Are Here,” the North Olympic Library System’s annual summer reading program for teens and tweens, which continues through Aug. 6.
