Creasey makes dean’s list at U of Idaho
Adrianna Creasey of Sequim was one of more than 2,000 students named to the University of Idaho dean’s list for fall semester 2009.
To achieve this honor, undergraduate students achieved a grade-point average of 3.5 or better with 12 or more graded credits.
Creasey is enrolled at Idaho’s College of Business and Economics.
Bachelor’s degree talk at P.C.
An informational session about Western Washington University’s environmental studies bachelor’s degree is scheduled for noon Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Peninsula College’s P Building Seminar Room, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles.
Students can earn a Bachelor of Arts or Science in environmental studies from Western Washington University’s Huxley College.

First Teacher fundraiser set for May
A fundraiser featuring dessert, silent auction and music is set for 4-7 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St.
Proceeds will go to the First Teacher program, a nonprofit organization that helps parents be their child’s first teacher.
The group provides parent education materials – a monthly newsletter and developmental cards –
for parents of preschool children from pregnancy to prekindergarten.

SHS talent show auditions set
Auditions for the Sequim High School talent show are scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at the Performing Arts Building, 533 N. Sequim Ave.
Auditions are open to all high school students, parents and staff.
A meeting for all those wishing to help out with lights and backstage work is slated for the same day at 3:30 p.m., also in the Performing Arts Building.

Student art show
planners seek artists
High school and middle school students are invited to submit artwork for the 16th annual Sequim Arts Student Show, scheduled for March 5-26 at the Museum and Arts Center, 175 W. Cedar St. The show is open to all students in grades 6-12 in public, private and home schools of Clallam County.
Entries will be accepted from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26, and from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Museum and Arts Center.
Entry fee is $1 per piece with a limit of two entries per student.

Block Fest
returns to Sequim
Block Fest, an indoor educational play opportunity for children ages 8 months to 8 years and their parents by using different sizes and types of building blocks, is slated for March 25 at Sequim Community School, 220 W. Alder St.
The event begins at 10:30 a.m. and has three 50-minute sessions, the final one ending at 4:20 p.m. There are five different stations to experience during each session.
Event organizers say block play helps children develop early math, science and literacy skills, and that early learning helps prepare children for success in school and life (see www.blockfestwa.org/)
Block Fest is free. Children must be accompanied by a parent.

Those interested in participating with the Block Fest event as a facilitator are asked to attend at training session set for 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
