P.C. scholarship deadline looms
More than $37,000 in scholarship funds is available for the 2010-2011 academic year at Peninsula College, but the deadline is rapidly approaching. All applications for scholarships must be on file with the college by the end of the workday on Friday, April 9.
Available scholarships include P.C. Foundation-supported awards for graduating high school seniors (a total of $5,000), general scholarships and program-specific ones, such as those for nursing.
While many scholarships are based on financial need, several are not. Individuals who are planning on attending Peninsula College for the 2010-2011 academic year are encouraged to visit the college Web site to explore the many scholarship opportunities that are available.

Anderson named to PLU dean’s list
Matthew Anderson, a 2007 graduate of Sequim High School, was named to Pacific Lutheran University dean’s list for fall semester 2009.
PLU students must maintain at least a 3.5 grade-point average for the term.
Anderson is double majoring in German and philosophy. He spent the 2008-2009 school year studying at Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany, through PLU.
Anderson is the son of Jack and Karin Anderson of Sequim.
SPU, Sequim students named to dean’s list
Eight Seattle Pacific University students from Sequim were named to Seattle Pacific University’s 2009 autumn quarter dean’s list.
They are Whitney Bigger, Naomi Fosket, Julie Leaf, Jessica Mead, Laura Moser, Valerie Moser, Michael Richards and Mickey Yeager
Students on the dean’s list must have completed at least 12 credits and attained a 3.5 or higher grade-point average.
Physicians’ scholarships, grants available
Caretakers of the Clallam County Physicians Community Benefit Fund are accepting applications for academic scholarships in medically-related fields and for medically-related community grants.
Both will be awarded in 2010.
The scholarships provide tuition support for students in medical fields.
To be eligible, a student must be a graduate of a Clallam County high school
and have been accepted into (or currently be enrolled in and making satisfactory progress in) a fully-accredited, professional school
in a medically-related program.
The community grants are to encourage one-time, medically-related community projects that benefit a broad cross-section of the community.
Applications for both scholarships and grants may be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Clallam County Physicians Community

Completed applications are due by Tuesday, June 1.
