WSU lists Sequim
students on honor roll
Fifteen Sequim students were named to the Washington State University president’s honor roll for fall quarter 2009.
They are Stacia Bibler, Rosalynd Billes, Gregory Dunbar, Derrick Eberle, Jaysa Hill, Valerye Huff, Auren O’Connell, Michael Olson, Reed Omdal, Stefanie Rotmark, John Ryan, Jane Rynearson, Ryan Scott, Kori Winnop and Carol Yearout.
To achieve honor roll status at WSU, students must either earn a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or better based on at least 15 cumulative hours of graded work at Washington State University or earn a grade-point average of 3.75 or better based on at least nine cumulative hours of graded work at the university.
Sequim students make EWU dean’s list
Six Sequim students attending Eastern Washington University were named to the dean’s list for fall quarter 2009.
They are Ashlee Bourns, Brandon Fuellas, Derrell Jensen, Justin Mauger, Chelsea Twiss and Sarina Walla.
An undergraduate student at Eastern who earns 12 quality hours and receives a grade-point average of 3.50 or better is placed on the dean’s list for the quarter.
Sequim students make the list at Central
Four Sequim students were named to Central Washington University’s honor roll for fall quarter 2009.
They are Matthew Grey, Elora Bradley, Jacob Breithaupt and Cody Spencer.
Central undergraduate students who earn a 3.50 or better grade-point average while maintaining at least 12 graded credit hours of study are eligible for the honor roll.
SHS talent
show auditions set
Auditions for the Sequim High School talent show are scheduled for 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at the Performing Arts Building, 533 N. Sequim Ave.
Auditions are open to all high school students, parents and staff.
A meeting for all those wishing to help out with lights and backstage work is slated for the same day at 3:30 p.m., also in the Performing Arts Building.

Pre-3 preschool
enrolling for winter
There are two spots still open for the winter quarter at Sequim Pre-Three preschool.
The class meets from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on Fridays at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave..
Sequim Pre-Three is a nonprofit organization sponsored by Peninsula College for parents and guardians with children ages of 10 months to 31/2 years.

College offers social media classes
Renne Emiko Brock-Richmond of Sequim, who has been teaching computer classes since 1992, is offering three social media classes in February and March. The classes are $20 each.
• "Twitter" is set for 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4 at Dungeness Design, 520 N. Sequim Ave. The class teaches individuals how the medium’s micro-blogging technology creates effective, fast-paced networking in 140 characters or less.
• "Facebook" is scheduled for 5:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2 at the Peninsula College the main campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., in Port Angeles. The course introduces students to one of the leading social networking sites. Learn how to create an account, add friends, upload photos, customize a profile, engage in chat and use Facebook applications for strategic networking.
• "Second Life" is set for 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 4 at Dungeness Design. Learn to create an avatar, navigate through immersive 3-D environments, engage in innovative learning and research personal interests.

Block Fest returns to Sequim
Block Fest, an indoor educational play opportunity for children ages 8 months to 8 years and their parents by using different sizes and types of building blocks, is slated for March 25 at Sequim Community School, 220 W. Alder St.
The event begins at 10:30 a.m. and has three 50-minute sessions, the final one ending at 4:20 p.m. There are five different stations to experience during each session.
Event organizers say block play helps children develop early math, science and literacy skills, and that early learning helps prepare children for success in school and life (see www.blockfestwa.org/)
Block Fest is free. Children must be accompanied by a parent.

Those interested in participating with Block Fest event as a facilitator are asked to attend at training session set for 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
