Sunrise Rotarians aid Food Bank with new structure

Sunrise Rotarians completed another community service project for the Sequim Food Bank as they constructed a roof for the dairy distribution area.

Sunrise Rotarians completed another community service project for the Sequim Food Bank as they constructed a roof for the dairy distribution area.

Working on this project were Tom Schaafsma, Chris Coolures, Eric Mahnerd and Jack Tatom.

Mahnerd, who is the co-chairman for the Community Services Committee, said, “This is the 43rd project that the Sunrise Rotary Club has completed for our community in the last 12 months.

“All total, our Rotarians have amassed over 1,760 hours of community service and have spent over $18,000 on projects helping the community.”

A wide range of projects were completed, including working with the Boys & Girls Club, the food bank, United Way, Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County, WAG, Sequim Little League and the Salvation Army.

Other projects included wheelchair ramp construction, hosting an annual Christmas party for seniors and people with developmental disabilities, Irrigation Festival activities, Adopt a Family program and blood drive participation.
