In October, the Board of Clallam County Commissioners proclaimed the month of October 2013 as Disability Employment Awareness Month in Clallam County and publicly recognized employers in Clallam County who employ people with developmental disabilities.

 

Held each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month is a national campaign that raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities.

 

The theme for 2013 is “Because We Are EQUAL to the Task.”

 

County officials recognized employers from Sequim who employ people with developmental disabilities, including Banana Belt Kelly, Dungeness Courte Memory Care, Goodwill Industries, Karen’s Tax Service, King’s Way Foursquare Church, Pacific Bay International, Sequim Community School and Sun Baked Landscaping. Employers recognized from Port Angeles were A-1 Performance, Albertsons, Clallam County Hostelries, Clallam Transit, Feiro Marine Life Center, Goodwill Industries, Jack in the Box, Junction Roadhouse, Lane Wolfey Attorney at Law, Lee Shore Boats, Lighthouse Christian Church, Lincoln Street Safeway, McDonald’s, Olympic Laundry & Cleaners, Olympic Medical Center, Pacific Office Equipment, Steppin Out Salon, Walmart, Washington State Department of Children’s Services and Clallam County YMCA.
