Last week Jerry Peterson got a big surprise when he went to collect a check for his medical expenses from a benefit sponsored by the Sequim Prairie Grange.
The benefit pancake breakfast, served by his fellow Clallam County Fire District 3 colleagues, raised about $3,200 through 667 breakfasts and used 55 dozen eggs, 140 pounds of pancake flour and 135 pounds of ham.
Through other activities the Grange put on, it was a whopping total of $8,711.82.
Peterson said, “Words can’t express the generosity of this community.”
