Two injured in single-car wreck near Sequim

Two people were hurt near Sequim Monday, July 5, when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and the car left the roadway, traveled down a 30-foot embankment and hit a tree, the State Patrol said.

Both the driver, Bethlene N. Bryson, 68, of Federal Way, and the passenger, Deeanna C. Norman, 13, of Tacoma, were taken to Olympic Medical Center after the single-car wreck near Palo Alto Road at 10:18 p.m.

Bryson was reported in stable condition the following day; the hospital does not release information about minors, hospital spokesperson Bobby Beeman said.

Bryson was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 101.

She was cited for having wheels off the road.

Both people were wearing seat belts.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, the State Patrol said.

The car, a 2015 Kia Soul, was completely destroyed, the State Patrol said.
