The Clallam County Noxious Weed Control Board has is hosting three public workshops in December on a draft Integrated Roadside Weed Management Plan.

Attend a public workshop to hear about the draft plan, become familiar with noxious weed issues on county roadsides and state requirements and offer your feedback.

After review, a revised version will be presented to the Board of Clallam County Commissioners.

The draft plan is a proposed update to the 25-year-old County Vegetation Management Policy as it relates to noxious weed control. It applies only to weed control activities on county-owned rights-of-way, not general vegetation management or private property.

The county relies heavily on mowing for general vegetation management which inadvertently causes weed infestations to spread. The draft weed management plan would expand the county’s toolbox for the dealing with the most difficult to control or wide-spread weeds of public concern by integrating the targeted use of herbicides, promoting native seed mixes and developing weed-free rock materials.

State and local experts will be on hand to discuss issues and answer questions. Maps of weed locations, lists of target weeds and other informational material will be available.
