Volunteer Hospice offers six-week series

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County will offer a six-week Community & Volunteer Education series in Port Angeles from Sept. 11-Oct. 16.

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County will offer a six-week Community & Volunteer Education series in Port Angeles from Sept. 11-Oct. 16.

Classes will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. each Thursday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E. Lopez Ave., Port Angeles.

A series description follows:

Sept. 11 — Introduction to Hospice (Marilyn Nelsen, PhD, volunteer services manager).

Sept. 18 — Attitudes Toward Death and Dying. Consider the Conversation (DVD, first half); Patients as Mentors (Bette Wood, RN, patient care manager).

Sept. 25 — Attitudes toward Death and Dying. Consider the Conversation (DVD, second half); Group discussion.

Oct. 2 — The Gifts of Grief (DVD); The Grieving Process (Cherie Copsey, Port Angeles Grief Support Group facilitator).

Oct. 9 — Mortuary Services/Legal Issues: (Rob Tulloch, attorney; Steve Ford, funeral director). **This class will be held at Drennan Ford Funeral Home, 260 Monroe Road, Port Angeles.

Oct. 16 — Putting It All Together. Summary, Discussion & Evaluation (Marilyn Nelsen, PhD, volunteer services manager).
