Watch for United Way’s annual campaign mailer

This is United Way of Clallam County’s 61st anniversary in Clallam County. This year, United Way’s annual fund drive is working hard toward a $1 million goal. As of Nov. 7, $241,376 (24 percent) has been received from 673 donors.

Beginning Nov. 14, a mailing with an invitation to make a donation will be delivered to all residents and businesses in Clallam County.

“This mailing is intended to reach people who may not give through a workplace, who are new to the community or are retired,” according to Jody Moss, executive director of United Way. “It is not a request for a second gift. Last year, local community members donated $900,960 to help people struggling in our county. United Way is one of the best and simplest ways to support local needs and strengthen the entire community.

“This mailer is a way for everyone to have the opportunity to become a community investor and partner with United Way in our efforts to build a healthy community.”

United Way is a locally run organization, supporting 23 local partner agencies year-round and providing a strong safety net for children, adults, seniors and families in the community, said Don Bradley, president of the United Way board of directors.

Last year more than 63,000 people benefited from services provided by United Way and its agencies, engaging 6,800 volunteers who gave 233,000 hours of service valued close to $4.8 million, Bradley said.

“All contributions from $1 to $1,000 are important,” said Buck Gieseke, owner of Integrity One Mortgage and chairman of this year’s campaign.

“If everyone in Clallam County sent in a donation, imagine the good we can do right here at home.”

There are many options for giving to United Way: payroll deduction, check, credit card, PayPal, direct billing, IRA distribution or stock transfer. All donations are tax deductible.
